Legal Establishment
Future University, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has been established as a State Private University under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Third Amendment) Act, 2024 (U.P. Act No. 12 of 2024). The university was formally recognized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh through Notification No. F.342(2)/LXXIX-V-I-2024-1-KA-13-2024, dated August 13, 2024. The Act came into effect from July 2, 2024.
Additionally, Future University has been included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. This inclusion recognizes the university’s legal status and compliance with the regulatory framework for higher education institutions in India.

Future University is established and governed by Shree Rajendra Kumar Gupta Memorial Trust, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, which is dedicated to advancing higher education and research in the state.
Governance and Regulatory Compliance
1. Powers and Functions of the University
As per the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019 (Amended 2024), Future University is empowered to:
- Offer Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctoral, and Diploma programs in various disciplines.
- Establish and maintain schools, departments, research centers, and affiliated institutions.
- Grant degrees, diplomas, and certifications in accordance with UGC and other statutory body regulations.
- Develop and maintain academic and research collaborations with national and international institutions.
- Promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and industry partnerships through incubation centers and research initiatives.
- Maintain academic autonomy while adhering to national education policies and standards.


2. Compliance with UGC and State Government Regulations
Future University adheres to all regulatory guidelines, including:
- UGC (Establishment of and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities) Regulations, 2003.
- UGC Guidelines on Public Self-Disclosure by Higher Education Institutions.
- UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.
- AICTE, BCI, NMC, DCI, INC, NCTE, PCI, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- No Off-Campus Centers: As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court ruling in the case of Prof. Yashpal vs. State of Chhattisgarh, Future University does not have or recognize off-campus centers, affiliated colleges, or franchise agreements.
3. Academic and Administrative Governance
The governance structure of the university includes the following statutory bodies:
- Board of Governors – Responsible for the strategic direction and policy framework.
- Executive Council – Oversees academic, financial, and administrative matters.
- Academic Council – Manages academic programs, research, and faculty development.
- Finance Committee – Ensures financial planning, budget approvals, and compliance.
- Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) – Maintains academic and operational excellence.

Academic Autonomy and Program Structure
The university operates with full academic autonomy, allowing it to:

Faculty and Staff Regulations
- Faculty recruitment and promotions are based on UGC and state government norms.
- A structured framework for faculty training, research incentives, and professional development is in place.
- The university follows a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and harassment, with committees such as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Anti-Ragging Cell, and Equal Opportunity Cell.
Student Policies and Grievance Redressal
- Student Admissions & Fee Regulations: Transparent admission process based on merit and regulatory guidelines.
- Grievance Redressal Mechanism: An Ombudsperson is appointed to resolve student grievances, in compliance with the UGC (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023.
- Scholarship & Financial Assistance: Various merit-based and need-based scholarships are available.
Degree Awarding Powers
Future University is authorized to award degrees as specified under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. The university follows the UGC Notification on Specification of Degrees (2014) and its amendments, ensuring that the nomenclature and duration of its degrees comply with national standards.
